Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about sharing, transferring, protecting, importing, and editing VN projects.

No. VN automatically saves a project on its current device, but signing in to a VN account does not back up or sync the project to the cloud. For privacy reasons, VN cannot access or restore your project files. Before switching devices or uninstalling VN, use [Share Project] and save the project file in a secure location.

Yes. Share the project using [Full], keep [Read-only] turned off, and send the resulting VN project file to the other device. Open the file with VN, wait for it to load, and tap [Open Project].

VN Project Sharing is supported on iOS, Android, macOS, and Windows. You can transfer a VN project file between these supported platforms.

[Full] includes all media used in the project. [Simple] lets you select which footage to include and can create a smaller project file. Choose [Full] when the recipient needs the complete project and all of its media.

The project may have been shared using [Simple] without all required footage selected. Ask the sender to share it again using [Full], or use [Simple] and select every clip the recipient needs.

Keep [Read-only] turned off when sharing the project. The recipient can then import the VN project file and continue editing it.

Yes. Turn on [Read-only] before tapping [Share]. The recipient can open and view the project but cannot edit or export it.

[Read-only] prevents editing and exporting. [Protect Project] lets you control access with a password, an expiration period, and an export limit.

On the Project File screen, turn on [Protect Project], review or set the password, and then tap [Share]. The recipient must enter the correct password to import the project.

Yes. Turn on [Protect Project], then set [Expiration] and [Export Limits] before sharing the project file.

The file may require a password, may have expired, may be [Read-only], or may have reached its export limit. Check the message in VN and contact the sender for the password or a new file with the required access.

No. [Share Project] creates a VN project file for transferring or collaborating. To create a playable video, open the project and use [Export].

Users without VN Pro can use Project Sharing once per day. This limit applies when creating and sharing a VN project file.
