Answers to common questions about trimming, splitting, arranging clips, aspect ratios, timeline behavior, saving, and exporting in VN.

Choose the aspect ratio that matches where the video will be viewed. Use a vertical ratio such as 9:16 for platform such as TikTok or Youtube Shorts, 16:9 for long form YouTube video, or 4:5 for Instagram post/reel. You can change the ratio from the control at the top of the editor.

Cropping can occur when the shape of the source clip does not match the project aspect ratio. Select the clip and adjust its crop, scale, or position so the important part of the footage remains inside the frame.

Yes. A project can contain clips with different orientations, but the project uses one canvas ratio. Adjust the crop, scale, position, or background of individual clips so they fit that canvas correctly.

Timeline behavior depends on Main Track Mode and Auto-Ripple. The default Quick Mode keeps main-track clips connected. If you switch to Pro Mode, Auto-Ripple moves later clips after an edit, while turning Auto-Ripple off keeps their timestamps and can leave a gap. For more about this topic, visit: Editor Preferences

Check the Track Linkage setting in Editor Preferences. When Track Linkage is enabled, related Text, Audio, Overlay, and other elements can move with or be deleted with the main-track clip. When it is disabled, those elements keep their existing timeline positions. For more about this topic, visit: Editor Preferences
