How to Create and Share a VN Template

Select the parts users can replace or edit, configure the template settings, then publish or share the finished template.

A VN template keeps the structure, timing, effects, text styles, and other design choices from an existing project while allowing other users to replace selected media and edit selected text.

Before creating the template, finish the project and decide which clips and text layers should remain editable. For recommendations on preparing replaceable content, see Tips for Creating Better VN Templates.

Create a VN Template

1. On the [Home] screen, locate the project you want to turn into a template and tap [...] beside it.

2. Tap [Create Template].

Open the project menu and select Create Template

3. On the [Create Template] screen, choose the content that users can change:

  • Under [Clips], select each photo, video, or element that users should replace with their own choice.
  • Under [Texts], select each text layer that users should be able to edit.

Review the selections, then tap [Next].

4. On the [Publish Template] screen, enter a title and optional description, then configure the cover, tags, and usage settings.

Select replaceable content and configure the publishing settings

Setting What it controls
[User Footage Size] How replacement photos or videos fit the template's media area.
[Keep Audio from User Videos] Whether the original audio from replacement video clips is retained.
[Allow Editing] Whether users can enter the full editor and change the template structure after filling it.
[Allow to Change Frame] Whether users can change the template's aspect ratio when editing.

Tap [Save] to store the template without publishing it, or complete any file-upload fields shown and tap [Publish] to publish it immediately.

Note
When VN asks for a download link, tap [Save the file], upload the saved template file to a supported cloud service, and allow anyone with the link to access it. Paste the link into the download-link field before publishing.

5. A saved template appears in the [Templates] tab on the [Home] screen. Tap the template to open it.

6. Review the template preview, then tap [Share] button to share it.

Find the saved template and share it from the preview screen

Share a Template With a VN Code

A VN Code lets other users scan or import a code to open the shared template in VN.

1. Open the template preview, tap the share button, then select [VN Code].

2. Enter the template title and optional description, then edit the cover when needed. If the screen asks for a downloadable file:

  • Tap [Save the file].
  • Upload the file to a supported cloud service.
  • Set the file permission so anyone with the link can access it.
  • Paste the link into [Download link].

Tap [Create], then save or share the generated VN Code.

Select VN Code and complete the code creation details

Note
Keep the uploaded template file available after sharing the VN Code. Removing the file or restricting its cloud permission can prevent other users from downloading the template.

Share a Template as a VN Template File

A VN Template File lets you send the reusable template directly instead of creating a VN Code.

1. Open the template preview, tap the share button, then select [Share VNFlow File] to share it as a VN Template File.

2. Review the optional protection settings, then tap [Share] and choose where to send or save the file.

  • [Read-only]: Restricts how the recipient can use the shared template.
  • [Protect Project]: Adds available protection controls, which may include a password, expiration date, or export limit.

Select the VN Template File sharing option and configure optional protection

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to common questions about saving, publishing, editing, and sharing VN templates.

Under [Clips], select every photo or video that users should replace with their own media. Under [Texts], select the text layers that users should be able to edit. Leave fixed design elements unselected.

[Save] stores the template in the [Templates] tab on the [Home] screen without publishing it. [Publish] completes the publishing process immediately. You can also save the template first, open it later from [Templates], and tap [Publish] when it is ready.

Only when [Allow Editing] is enabled. Without it, users can fill the selected media and edit the selected text but cannot freely change the complete timeline structure.

Some templates require a downloadable template file. Save the file, upload it to a supported cloud service, make sure anyone with the link can access it, then paste that link into the download-link field.

A VN Code gives other users a scannable way to open and download the template in VN. A VN Template File shares the template directly and can include optional controls such as read-only access or project protection.

Check that the uploaded template file still exists and that its cloud permission allows anyone with the link to access or download it. Then recreate or update the VN Code with the working link.
