Use VN Without an Internet Connection

Learn which VN tools work without internet, how local processing supports privacy, and how to prepare templates, music, and Elements before going offline.

Core editing functions such as importing and adding clips, editing the timeline, previewing a project, and exporting are always available offline because they are processed locally on your device. This allows you to work without uploading your media for processing, and some features can also be accessed without registering an account. You can continue editing during a flight, in a remote area, or anywhere with weak or unreliable service, provided that the media and downloadable resources you need are already stored or loaded on the device.

Edit Without Internet

Offline editing makes VN useful in places where a stable connection is unavailable, including airplanes, trains, campsites, rural locations, and other remote areas. The supported tools continue to process your clips directly on the device, so you can keep building and refining a project without waiting for a connection.

Local processing also provides a privacy benefit. When you use the tools listed in this article, the selected media does not need to be uploaded for the edit to be processed. Your source files and editing work can remain on the device unless you choose to use an online service, share content, or upload it elsewhere.

Offline editing is useful when you want to:

  • Edit while traveling or using airplane mode.
  • Work in areas with limited or no mobile coverage.
  • Avoid interruptions caused by an unstable connection.
  • Process sensitive or private footage with local editing tools.
  • Reduce reliance on mobile data while editing.

Prepare Before Going Offline

Most local editing tools do not require special preparation. Downloadable content, however, must be available on the device before the connection is lost.

Before a flight or trip to a remote area:

  1. Save the photos, videos, audio, and music you plan to use on the device.
  2. Open any online VN templates you expect to use so they are loaded before you go offline.
  3. Browse the [Graphics] menu and wait for each required sticker or Element to appear in the list. Once it appears, it is considered loaded and can remain available offline.
  4. Save any VN template files you plan to import in local device storage.
  5. Confirm that the project and required resources open correctly before enabling airplane mode or leaving the coverage area.

Create BeatsClips Offline

BeatsClips runs locally on your device. When offline, you can access music stored on the device and use [From Music] to create a rhythm-based template. VN can generate beat points from the selected music, and you can adjust, add, or remove the points before creating the template.

Streaming music or audio that is not stored locally may be unavailable without a connection. Save the music you need on the device before traveling. For the full workflow, see Create VN Template with BeatsClips.

Use Templates Offline

VN templates that were loaded previously remain available when the device is offline. Open the templates you expect to use while connected so they are ready before a flight or trip.

You can also load a VN template file while offline when the file is stored locally on the device. New online templates cannot be discovered or downloaded without an internet connection. For template guidance, see Tips for Creating Better VN Templates.

Use Stories Offline

Stories runs locally on your device, allowing you to organize a video idea and continue building its story structure without an internet connection. Keep the photos, videos, and other references you plan to use on the device before traveling so they remain available while offline.

For details about planning and organizing a video with Stories, see Stories.
